Writing podcasts are a great way to improve craft, find motivation, understand the publishing industry and feel less lonely throughout the writing and publishing journey.

Since I started my writing journey about a year and a half, started researching about the craft of writing and the publishing industry, I have to say my go to for all my research has been podcasts…
If you are not listening to writing and publishing podcasts, you are seriously missing out on a lot of absolutely necessary information.
So, I thought I would share all the wonderful podcasts that I listen to. Maybe you’ll find some new ones.
Before we begin, let me say that no one is paying me a dime for this. This is a list of podcasts I listen to and that’s it. No strings attached.

#AmWriting podcast talks about improving writing craft and does author interviews too.
Always Take Notes is an UK based podcast and mostly does author interviews where they discuss about their writing craft. They also have literary agent interviews.
Book Friends Forever feels like a casual talk with writing friends. But they do have insightful conversations about publishing insider information and Author interviews too.
Authors & Agents - Quite self explanatory from the title 😉. So basically interviews with authors and agents.
Confessions of the Debut Novelist - Debut author interviews about writing process and publishing journey
DIY MFA Radio discusses all about writing craft.
The Essential Guide to Writing a Novel also talks about writing craft.
Fiction Writing made easy is probably the very first writing podcast I started with. It discusses about writing craft essentials with actionable tips for editing.
Hear me Roar - This is associated with WFWA, and does author interviews.
Helping Writers Become Authors discusses elaborate story structure analysis. I loved the discussion on this regarding the archetype characters.
Literary Blend is a newer podcast by a Writing friend of mine, but absolutely wonderful interviews with authors and industry professionals.
Nibbies podcast is a newer addition. I started listening to this for the author interviews of all the shortlisted authors for British Book Awards. So inspiring.
Normal Gossip podcast - This is one of my favorites. You need to listen to this. It is more exactly writing related. But the stories they narrate in this are so awesome. They can absolutely help with writer’s block.
On the write track is all about interviews with new and established authors as well as industry professionals to get the insider info.
Page one - The writer’s podcast is UK based and has interviews with authors in their process and craft, as well as industry professionals. They are currently doing a series of literary agent interviews too.
Print Run podcast is all about publishing insider information run by literary agents.
Publising Rodeo podcast is all about dissecting the trad pub industry. They talk to authors about this experiences in trad pub journey, and get into the nitty gritty stuff.
Queries, Qualms & Quirks has debut author interviews about their querying and debut pub journey.
Sarah’s Bookshelves Live is mainly Book recommendations from guests who are authors or industry professionals.
Story magic is all about the writing craft and also about the writer mindset.
Stuff you missed in History Class is another must listen especially when you are stuck and looking for ideas. Because truly speaking, real stories can be absolutely bonkers.
TED Radio hour is another one for writely inspiration, removing story blocks and just general research.
The Creative Penn podcast talks to authors about their indie publishing journey and all things about the process and art of self publishing career.
The Fantasy Writers’ Toolshed is just like the name suggests. But it’s not limited to fantasy genre. A lot of story structure and craft stuff is applicable to any genre.
The Manuscript Academy podcast is from the #mswl team. They do agent interviews which is great to understand what agents are looking for now. Also they do author interviews about their journey which are really inspiring.
The Shit No One Tells You About Writing podcast is just wonderful. With query letter dissections to author interviews with writing craft discussions, it is a go to.
The Waterstones podcast interviews highly successful authors and it is absolutely inspiring.
The Write and Wrong podcast does author and agent interviews to talk about author and agent journeys.
The Writer Files does NYT bestselling author interviews and talk about their writing process and journey. Very inspiring.
The Writing Life podcast does author interviews in various stages of career, taking about their journeys and techniques to writing.
The Writing Podcast is another one that dissects writing techniques and how tos of writing.
32. Writer’s Routine has author interviews and discussions about the writers routine and process.
Writers Advice Podcast has discussion about writing techniques and dealing with writing roadblocks. Also author interviews.
Writers on Writing does author interviews where they talk any their journey and writing process.
Writing excuses podcast talks about writing craft. They deep dive into different topics like voice, dialogue etc. which definitely provides perspective.
