Take a Break, You Deserve it
Taking a break from writing is important as you start taking your writing seriously.
Hello and Welcome to the Writer Story!
I always talk about how it’s important to keep writing and working on your writing and pushing for your creative goals, which is all true by the way, but sometimes, it’s also important to take a break.
Yes, you read that right.
As we approach the holidays in another month, it’s likely that there will be other thing on mind. Maybe you’re taking a trip somewhere, or hosting a holiday party for which you need to prepare or there're a hundred other things you need to do before the year end. I know, that’s life right.
But as we push on doing the other things and take a break from writing, we are afraid of missing out on the writing part. Guilt creeps up and makes us feel terrible.
But please understand, writing is hard, especially if you’re working on something longform. It takes time and effort and it’s a lot of work. And it’s important to take care of yourself as you write.
Have you heard of the creative well?
The well of creativity that’s inside of us that feeds all our creative endeavours, including writing. If we use up more than we refill the well, it’s gonna be empty, and that’s not what we want. We want a healthy, thriving, always half-full/empty of creativity juice in there.
So, take stock of your own creative well.
Be kind to yourself as you progress on this creative journey.
Consider this your permission to take a break if you feel the need to.
Keeping this newsletter short today, as I am also taking a break and thought I’d share this with you.

It's also important to take a break in order to return to your writing with a clear mind and new, fresh eyes. When I stare at my work too long, I lose sight of it, in a way. I need to take breaks and come back - whenever I do, I see things that I hadn't noticed before.
